Supporting World Sailing's 2018 Blind Match Racing World Championship
J. & J. Denholm will be supporting World Sailing’s 2018 Blind Match Racing World Championship as main sponsor. The event is a series of one-on-one races, where visually impaired sailors sail around the race course at Rhu, Helensburgh, guided by sound-emitting buoys.
John Denholm, Chairman and CEO of J. & J. Denholm said, “I am pleased that Denholm is supporting such a commendable event. Blind match racing demonstrates that disabilities such as visual impairment can be overcome, not simply to participate in sailing but to gain the skills needed for competitive sailing. Denholm’s seafaring roots started in 1866 in Greenock, which is just across the water from Rhu and close to the Firth of Clyde, so it is doubly fitting for Denholm to be involved.”
This is the first time the championships will be held in the UK. The event runs from 1st to 7th September 2018 at the Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club at Rhu, Helensburgh in Scotland.
